Randy Moorman was appointed Mayor Pro Tem in 2023. He was first elected as the District 1 Councilmember in November 2021. Randy believes the strength of a community is determined by how residents treat and support each other. He is dedicated to building relationships and creating an environment where everyone’s voice can be heard. Randy works to bring people together to share their different experiences and expertise to address Arvada’s biggest challenges—repairing roads and sidewalks, reducing traffic, increasing accessibility for all residents regardless of their abilities, fighting climate change and planning for a sustainable future.

Randy currently works for Eco-Cycle, a recycling non-profit and serves as the Policy Chair for Recycle Colorado. With more than 22 years of experience working in environmental policy, Randy is passionate about developing the circular economy in Colorado, where materials are recycled instead of landfilled and made into new products, creating local jobs.

Randy has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Purdue University and a Master of Environmental Management from Duke University.

His Committee Memberships include:

  • Arvada Sustainability Advisory Committee
  • Rocky Flats Stewardship Council
  • Colorado Municipal League Policy Committee
  • Arvada Audit Committee

Since moving to Arvada in 2011, Randy and his husband, Scott, have engaged with the community through their church, Arvada United Methodist. Randy has sung in the choir and writes and directs the children’s Christmas Pageant each year. Together they have volunteered with Family Promise, an organization of churches helping families experiencing homelessness and prepared meals for the Dolores Project and Urban Peak. They have fostered children and have a son Joey who has become an outstanding independent adult. Randy and Scott enjoy cooking and baking, hiking, camping and traveling. They call Arvada home and love to walk on the city’s trails, enjoy a night out in Olde Town and hang out with their wonderful neighbors.
